2008 Pontiac G6 2.4 no acceleration!!
My car turns on fine. You can press on the gas pedal on park and accelerates fine. I can also drive in my neighborhood ok, but when i try to pass some one on the road it bogs down really bad, or when i get on the highway and gets to 60mph is starts to slow down. And when you try to press the gas pedal theres nothing, no acceleration. I have changed out spark plugs, throttle body, O2 sensors. Had a bunch of codes but didnt write them down. Any ideas guys? thanks.

Need to know the codes....chances are you have a problem with the throttle actuator control system.....

ok here are the codes i got so far after driving it around barley. P0014, P0122, P0223, P0011,and P0014. Parts ive replaced so far is the two variable timing solonids intake and exhaust. Also i replaced the electronic throttle body got it at a used auto parts place. And not much differance...im running out of ideas.

Re: 2008 Pontiac G6 2.4 no acceleration!!
Basically, what you have are throttle position and variable valve timing codes....
I know you replaced the throttle body unit....but it was a used part....it could be good, but being used makes it questionable.... You replaced the intake and exhaust solenoids....were they new or used? One problem with codes is, a lot of people just assume that the problem is what the code is named after, and that is not the case.......the code sets when ANYTHING in the entire circuit has a problem, or anything that affects the operation of that circuit...... For example, say a code is set for the pre cat O2 sensor....most people would run out and get an O2 sensor......the circuit consists of the sensor, the wiring, and the ECM/PCM.........so the possibilities are the sensor, the wiring harness, the connectors in the harness, or the PCM.....also, whatever affects the normal operation of the circuit......if the vehicle runs too rich, or too lean, that will set the code.....that can be caused by an exhaust leak, intake leak, bad injector, bad MAF, etc. What you have to check, are the electrical connections to these parts.....are they clean/tight......do they have the proper voltages/ground......then you need a scan tool to see if you are getting the proper feed back on the circuits.......could have a faulty harness or bad PCM.....As far as your throttle body goes, you could have a bad PPS(pedal position sensor), or the wiring to it could be bad.....this where a good scan tool comes in again..... Also, what is the condition of the oil? It's recommended when the solenoids are replaced, that the oil and filter be replaced too..... |

Re: 2008 Pontiac G6 2.4 no acceleration!!
its possible it could need the camshaft actuators. i had one a while back that had similar issues, p0014 and i think a p0016 set, replaced solenoids because 90% of the time it fixes it, but still had issues afterwards. replaced the camshaft actuators and it fixed it. other than that we have seen alot of issues with plugged catalytic converters causing no acceleration, but usually you will have a p0420 set as well.
