New KA Models release: Mercedes S55 AMG Transkit
Dear modelers,
After a long period of absence, I have had a very cool mail of KA models to inform me that the S55 AMG will be in production and available now! S55 AMG AT MEDIAMIX HOBBY I 'm quite happy about this and I think it will make a very cool collector's piece for my AMG collection, considering newer models will be made available from other manufacturers. Luckily, this one will remain an exclusivity Have an excellent day! |

Re: New KA Models release: Mercedes S55 AMG Transkit
Excellent!!!! I recently saw that KA Models released a photoetch set, but I didn't see the transkit, so I was worried that Lawrence had given up on the transkit. Good news, thanks for sharing. I'll be ordering soon!
One thing noticed, though, and correct me if I'm wrong. I don't see the cut outs on the rear bumper for the exhaust tips, nor do I see exhaust tips in the kit. If not included, then it builds up more like a regular S500 with the sport package (USA model). You can add Tamiya's SLK exhaust tips, which are the same shape and size, I believe. Despite that, it looks very nice and accurate! |

Re: New KA Models release: Mercedes S55 AMG Transkit
You're right about that, on the original 'master', there were no holes cut-out.
You can use the bumperset to make either the 'sport version' or the two versions of S55 and S63 AMG, which have different exhausts cutouts. And thanks for the comment, I must admit it's a long time ago since I made it, and I remember measuring everything up to the tenth of a mm.-, holding it against picture reference. Kinda wants to make me finish my ongoing projects... |

Good point...gives flexibility to add different exhaust tips.
Great job and thanks for doing this! It really improves the Revell kit a lot! The resin wheels look great too! |

Re: New KA Models release: Mercedes S55 AMG Transkit
Fantastic! Nice work!
Now...dammit... I just wanted bumpers, and KA puffs it up to be a "super detail kit" with a whole bunch of crap I could care less about...$70 US is ridiculously overpriced for bumpers. Guess I can forget the easy conversion...just not a project I'm that interested in. I should have known that letting boutique aftermarket guys in Asia have at it would mean it was going to be completely overpriced/over the top. All I wanted were bumpers. I don't need P/E, I don't need wheels.

They should've made a bumpers (skirts) kit, and a superdetail kit. If they are selling the pe alone then wtf? |

Congrats, Oli! You must be really proud of that release.
Nevertheless i have to agree. Almost 50 EUR for some bumpers and not needed PE-parts is to much for my taste.

Re: New KA Models release: Mercedes S55 AMG Transkit
Yes, I agree with you guys on the price of this. I already bought the PE set that the total cost w/shipping in US was $23.00. I recieved them 2 weeks ago without the bumpers and wheels. I than saw the kit on Mediamix for about $61.00 US dollars and bought it because this is one of my AMG projects I wanted to work on for awhile. I wish the wheels, kit & PE set came together for about $40.00 dollars. I just paid a total of $82.00 for this bodykit plus $23.00 for PE set. That's $105.00 without the S600 car kit. Man, You know I wanted this really bad to pay this amount and I hope the bodykit is worth it.
