Got my ass kicked by VR6 GTI
we started out from a 20mph roll. he passed me like i was standing still. i threw it into 2 and was still like 1/2 a car length behind. i chirped 3rd and started to gain, but not by much. He stopped around 80-90mph. i lost but not as bad i as thought i would. maybe ill win after i boost the old integra. always next time....

Re: Got my ass kicked by VR6 GTI
Those VR6's have lots of torque on the low end (compared to a Honda/Acura) - you gotta keep the revs way up and do a lot of clutch-feathering to stay with them down low. They're a pretty even match for a Honda DOHC-VTEC if you can launch cleanly with the revs up and not spin the tires.

Re: Got my ass kicked by VR6 GTI
Yes what year was the GTI? If it was a 12 valve it had 174hp and 173tq. Not a bad car or engine but I am biased I own a 95 VR6 Jetta. However you have one up on us and that is you have shorter gear ratios while our pigs have long ones. 45mph in 1st gear 72mph in 2nd 115mph in 3rd and so on.
