2001 Cherokee gremlins, Wont start...

I have a 2001 cherokee with the 4.0l I6, I have a gremlin or two i think... It all started with the heater blower resistor, then the blower......

It had a intermittent starting issue where it wouldn't start on the first try, but always on the second.... What is that?

I replaced the crankshaft position sensor.... Still starts the same.....

Then the water pump went out last week, replaced it, still leaks....

parked it before christmas so i could fix it yesterday.... NOW IT WONT START.

sorry for yelling, its driving me crazy... I just wasted $45 on a Cam position sensor that did not fix the problem. Merry Christmas.

So now, i am back at square one, No start. What next?

btw, no codes after the "hold odometer and turn key" procedure....

Please help a guy out....

Post back with the reader codes.

When starting, do you turn the key on and let the fuel pump run for a second or two before trying to start?

Has the temperature dropped recently? If it has, and your spark plugs haven't been changed for more than 30k, that can cause hard starting.

Re: 2001 Cherokee gremlins, Wont start...

I googled both of your codes. Seems that usually it's a bad wire, or the sensors could be bad. I'd check the wiring for each, making sure there's no breaks or gaps, and that any connector plugs are connected properly and not corroded.

I also saw a post indicating the computer could be at fault, but wiring is more likely.

Re: 2001 Cherokee gremlins, Wont start...

Sure thing...plenty of threads on here where an aftermarket CPS failed shortly after being installed.
