Cruise Control Issue

My 2003 Silverado with 5.3 the cruise control quit working. If I tap the switch quickly I can see the light flash on the dash but does not stay on and the cruise will not engage. Anyone have any thoughts? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Re: Cruise Control Issue

I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 2500 6.0 - the cruise did not work at all when I purchased the vehicle 2 months ago. Carried it to a local dealer - they said the multifunction switch on steering colume was bad and would cost $460.00 (parts and labor)to replace it. I told them not to fix it. Bought one off ebay for $9.99 plus $12.00 shipping. Replaced it but the cruise still did not work. Researched the problem more and found broke wires on the brake switch. There are 6 wires on the brake switch wiring harness, 3 of mine were broke off down in the plug. I was able to eject the pins out of the harness - solder wire back to pins - put pins back in harness. This fixed the cruise.
