Re: WIP: 1970 'Gulf' Porsche 917K

a little further update...

the 'paperclip' space frame is complete. Taken me the best part of a day to get it right and oh I could have thrown the whole thing across the room several times - oh the joys of modeling!

Just to answer a quick question heres how I get the correct angle for each piece - I firstly laid them down over the moulded version on the base of the car, tacked them in place with a little blue tack and then pushed a large lump over the top. Gently taking this off keeps the two pieces in the right position and ready for solder. You can imagine how fiddly this got once I had all the pieces soldered and ready to solder together, phew - glad its done but well worth it in the end I think.

a couple more dry fitting tests to make sure everything sit right...

... and with the shell over it all - I have to say Im really impressed with this Fujimi kit - I was a little nervous about the quality of Fujimi before starting this but it really is first class. Only trouble is I now will have to pick up Fujimi's Gulf GT40 and also the beautiful Ferrari P330.

thanks for staying tuned, I cant wait for the engine to arrive!
