MT-2500 02-13-2010, 08:43 AM How to replace the exterior door handle, both sides,on a 1992 Chevy S10 pick up. What tools are needed? To replace door handles remove the inside panel to get to door handle hold on bolts/nuts. A inside panel clip tool helps. Also a inside door and window handle clip release tool. And catch that clip when it pops off. sisko89 02-13-2010, 06:36 PM Thanks for the reply,it does help. I have never done this before,so detailed instructions would be helpful. Is there an online exploded view of the door? MT-2500 02-14-2010, 09:27 AM Thanks for the reply,it does help. I have never done this before,so detailed instructions would be helpful. Is there an online exploded view of the door? A factory repair manual would be best. or a all data sub. http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html Most public libraries have car repair info and lot online. Also check Auto zone web site. But the procedure is not that hard. Just remove inside door panel and you can see back side of door handle. Good luck and let us know how it goes. jd-autotech 02-14-2010, 09:30 AM you maybe able to get a manual from your local library and there are part stores that rent tools. sisko89 02-16-2010, 03:53 PM Got it done. Not to hard a job for first time. The hardest part was seeing inside the door and getting clip on rod to open door. Not much room. The inside panel was a little difficult to get off because of the retainer clips. The whole job took two hours for both sides. MT-2500 02-16-2010, 04:11 PM Got it done. Good luck. sisko89 02-16-2010, 08:17 PM Another hard part is that it is cold which makes all of the parts harder to handle. I broke one clip on one new handle trying to push the rod through it. Went to parts store and bought four extras. Broke a few interior panel clips trying to twist those in place. If it was summer time it would have gone faster and smoother.
