ok im debating if i should buy this trooper i found this ad on craigslist this is what it says

1993 Isuzu Trooper, Automatic Transmission 3.2L v-6 with cruise control & 4-wheel drive. 145,000 miles.

I originally bought this trooper for $2,800. She ran great for 4 months with an oil leak. I got a new vehicle so the Trooper is sitting and waiting for a buyer.

I believe the oil leak has gotten worse and there is a transmission leak.
Has trouble gaining any speed from a parked position, will only go about 25mph up any big hills.
Once you get it on a flat road she has no problem getting up to 35mph or even 60mph, so yes, she can be driven away. *use your hazards*
Everything else is solid, power everything, new battery & good tires. A/C & heat work perfect, windshield wipers and all are good to go.

Safety & registration are payed up, she is just sitting here in North Shore waiting. Asking $700 o.b.o.

COULD ANYBODY tell me whats wrong and how much the repairs would cost i talked the guy down to 400$ for the car:smile:

Wow, power loss can be any number of things from bad timing, to leaking fuel rail, failing fuel pump, clogged filter and the lit goes on. the 3.2 is notorious for drinking oil. I'm surprised it made it to 145K miles. IMHO if the interior and exterior are immaculate, and everything else works great, I'd drop the $400 and go for an engine and tranny rebuild. Might cost a bit more, but if all else is good, you'll have a great truck that will last you years. My opinion.

400.00 is near scrap price in my area. Just depends on how much you're willing to put into it. NADA "rough trade in" value in Alabama is 625.00. I don't know which north shore you reside in and whether it's an S model or LS. Go to http://www.nadaguides.com/ and get you a ballpark figure on value and then allow 2500.00-3500.00 for repairs based on it's possible negative issues. You could always run it to a good repair shop and let them evaluate it for you before purchasing. Might cost around 100.00 for the evaluation.

My suggestion: Go for a test drive and see how it acts. If it's jerking, shaking, making breathlessness noise at exhaust, exessive gas pedal travel... (small symptoms like that), it worths to buy it. You can have it repaired for low costs.

It can be easy repair as fuel system clogged or even water in fuel system.

If it's more severe, like burning a lot of oil or big mettalic engine noise then it's not really worthing. Or a problem with transmission.
