I have a 2000 ZX2 Automatic, that has been well maintained and has about 110,000 miles on it. It's a California car so no rust or corrosion problems.
The problem that I am having is that while driving the car will stall. There are no noises, the car runs perfectly fine before the stall. When it stalls I put the car in neutral while coasting and start it right back up no problem and it runs great. There is no rhyme or reason to the stalling sometimes 20 minutes between stalls sometime 2 days between stalls.
I plugged my code reader into it and got no codes. When it is idling or driving there are no signs of anyting being wrong. I suspect a vacuum leak but have yet to find anything.
Anyone have any ideas?

Like a rough 'oh god I'm gonna quit' stall or a 'turn the key' kind of stall ?

Happens with your foot actually on the pedal ?

Happens with your foot off the pedal and at idle stand-still ?

I suspect a vacuum leak as well. It will help to know engine speed when it stalls... does it happen when decelerating, or at idle, or does this happen while going highway speeds?

If you really are not sure, let the engine warm up and run at idle for several minutes. Wait and see if it stutters or stalls while just sitting there.

It's very random. It happens during accel. and decel. or while cruising at various speeds. It doesn't do anything that isn't normal before it stalls. When it does stall, it's a instant quit like I turned it off at the key, I'll then I put it in neutral and it starts right back up and I'm good for a while.
It idles perfectly while cold and hot.

Father had the same issue in his GM-vehicle ('92 Olds Silhouette) and that was I think, an ignition module if I remember right. The mechanic already knew what it was for that vehicle because it was a common problem for them.

It's definitely electrical but if in the same situation as you with that vehicle I wouldn't have a clue about how to locate the problem. Basically just be throwing parts at it. Something like that, no, you wouldn't get a code...
