K&W block sealer after failed head swap

First of all, while researching this product I found a bunch of reviews that sounded like billy mays trying to sell reading glasses to a blind man. I am NOT a salesman and I'm NOT benifiting from typing this. I'm just floored by this product and want to tell people about it.

Ok, so I just did a top end PI swap on my 96 4.6L Thunderbird. For those of you who don't know what that is its when you replace the heads and intake manifold with those of a more recent design, upping the compression ratio and improving flow for more power.

While I was storing the heads before the swap one of the sealing surfaces got a ding, about 1/16th of an inch deep running from the compression chamber to the water jacket. Being that I'm flat broke I tried to fill it in with JB weld and I used a straight edge to smooth it to trueness. Upon completing the swap and starting it up I soon learned this was a total failure, as my garage filled with that familiar white, oderless smoke.

So I'm screwed right? As far as I was concerned I was tearing all the way down, getting the heads resurfaced and doing it all over again. No big deal, and I get to up the compression some more. I wasn't to fond of dropping the dime on new head bolts, gaskets and the machining but what do ya do? But one of my friends pointed out at Napa the next time we were there this cheesy looking can of K&W Block Sealer Head Gasket Repair, "hey its only 8 bucks. Why not?" I laughed and said "Sure, it can't hurt I guess" and got it. I have never been fond of cheapo quick fixes but I figured "hey, what the hell?"
I took it home and followed the instructions TO THE T. You have to drain ALL the antifreeze out and fill it with water, run it a couple minutes, drain it, run it, drain it, over and over until the water comes out clean and clear and safe enough that you wouldn't have a problem letting your kids drink it. I mean CLEAR. The stuff in this can does some kind of reaction with H2O and the presence of antifreeze mess it up. I guess when mixed with water and dried it turns to glass, or something... So after I got all the green out, I shook the hell out the can and mixed this stuff with SCALDING HOT WATER as per the directions and poured it in the coolant filler and filled it with water. Then started it up and watched as the white smoke pouring out the tailpipe got thinner and thinner until it completely stopped, filled the resevour back with water and waited till it had run for half an hour, as per directions, shut her down, drained all the water and the nasty brown goop out and let it sit empty with the drain open and the hose going from the radiator to the motor disconnected for two days, the directions said 24 hours but I wanted to be safe.

So I started it up today and it didn't leak at all, I took it down the road and beat the living piss out of it. No smoke, no water in the oil, nothing. Only smoke I saw was tire smoke (via 4.10s and a shift kit) The stuff worked exactly as promised. 100% satisfied. But this is only day one, and I've already gotten 8 dollars worth of enjoyment. Hopfully it holds together and I won't have to take these heads off again until I own a set of trickflows.

I really enjoyed your post. Wishing you the best! Hope you'll check back in with a up-date after you daily driving with anti-freeze mixture in there. Will keep fingers crossed as this will be your biggest test.

Ok, a few days in...

Nothing to report! I've put "128" miles on it according to the trip meter, which is wrong being that I went from 3.27:1 gears to 4.10:1 gears and I have yet to get a speedo/odo correction device, so its more like 100 miles, mostly in-town stop and go traffic with the occansional wide open runs all the way through the rpm band, still working great!
