How many of you all have this? I think its really cool. I never could tell when the VTEC kicked in on my SOHC and now its plain as day! I say for $21 w/complete instructions it was a deal. jujeracing has a deal where it goes in an unused spot on your gagecluster. I got it and love it. No it doesn't increase horsepower, but its cool nonetheless. Plus I now know where my VTEC solenoid is :D And how to get to my gage cluster incase I ever get indiglos :)

i was wanting to get a vtec light but i was going to make it for like $2 sillum has a how to. Your car doesnt look that bad if it wasnt for that wing thats taller than the car, get a small touring wind, those are tight.

np.. deffintally a cheap way to monitor your engine. i would put it out of site as it can become a little annoying after time.

Alright i started off by removing the gauge cluster and the cover from the ecu, which is on the passenger side, right next to your feet. once i had the gauge cluster removed i took off the back panel so i could get to where the empty light slot was. I put mine right above the 4500 rpm mark. The empty slot is kinda smoked, so you might have to take a really fine grit sand paper to clear it up a little. After that, take a trip up to the dealership or the parts store and get a dashboard replacement bulb, a connector to connect the wire from the vtec solenoid or ecu to the gauge cluster, and also go to office max and look where all their paper is. They have this transparent paper you can print on. Then go find where their folder dividers are, and get some transparents green dividers. I bought a pack that had a yellow, green, blue, and a few diff colors, but i thought green would be the coolest so i used that. The green actually makes the light go yellow, and it looks really cool. Then you go home and put the paper in your printer and print out "VTEC" in a block font using the software they gave you. Cut it out (or mine just peeled off like little stickers) and sandwhich it between 3 or 4 pieces of the green transparent folder dividers, Cut them down to size and glue it behind the empty slot in your gauge cluster. then you have to install the bulb you got, which is really easy. From there, take a length of wire and run it from your gauge cluster where the extra light is. I couldnt get a clip cause the dealership was closed, so i had to solder it on there, which wasnt too fun with my crappy iron. Anyways, once you get it connected, you need to run it to the vtec wire on the ecu. You could go to the vtec solenoid through the firewall, but i dont reccomend it. Its much easier staying inside the car and going to the ecu. I just went out to my car and and the vtec wire looks like its green with a yellow stripe. I couldnt find a damn wiring diagram that showed the vtec wire, so instead i had to test the resistance of the wire on the vtec solenoid to the one going to the ecu to make sure its the same one. It looks like someone posted a diagram, so that should help you guys find it. Then you just splice the wire from the dash bulb into the vtec wire and youre all set. I checked the voltage on the vtec wire to make sure the bulb wasnt draining too much power, and its all good. If anyone needs more help, let me know and i can go out into my car and tell you specifically what to do.

let me get this straight, how did you power the bulb? You hookerd up a wire to the ecu and then u need a power source dont you?

yeah the bulb gets the power from the vtec wire... so when the system turns on, power goes through the wire, and it also powers the light bulb

i c thank you for clearing that up, anyways i went and got the gauge cluster bulbs, the only place that had the was Honda itself, they were 8cdn each.

sorry I didn't respond earlier. Was busy fixing all the crap that got messed up cuz I didn't put the cover back on right. Damn thing is so fricken hard to take off...
Anyways, I connected it to the solenoid wire. Its right behind the distributor cap. I didn't know that the ecu was inside the car. Shows you how much i know...
Just asking tho: How do you fix the holes if you take off the wing? (just wondering)

To get the holes out youd prob have to sand down the area around it, apply bondo, sand it a bunch, more bondo, etc... then have it repainted. Darkwing, are you done with your light?

Yeah my light is fully installed now. I got all the stuff fixed too. Man I had every interior panel off trying to figure out wtf was wrong. Anyways, got it all done, looks great, almost like it came stock. Great learning experience though. I now know where just about everything is! lol :)
Any questions I can prolly answer them. :)
