i was just wondering if anyone knows how to get the check engine light to go off after putting in a new short ram intake? the light is coming on because the original air box has a sensor on/in it but now that thats gone my sensor is just wire tied out of the way, and thus not sending any info...if i put the airbox back in and hook up the sensor will it work even though there is no air getting sucked in? any help is much appreciated...thanks

Which sensor are you talking about. The mass air flow? Intake air temperature, I had one of those that was sitting aside in the engine compartment b/c of an aftermarket short ram air intake on a nissan but didn't throw a code. The car came like that I just didn't see the point in that nonsense so it was replaced with the factory one from the junkyard. You could I guess find a place to drill a hole and mount the sensor in that way. Are you sure you don't mean you have the sensor unplugged and have the connector laying aside and then hook up the connector to your sensor on your air cleaner housing and that's how the code goes away?

It would be best to find a way to mount the sensor in somehow. Using a short ram air intake, considering how long a pipe you have, will cause warmer air flowing into the intake because of warmer air around the engine. You want the sensor to be able to send that data to the computer so it can adjust to the difference in temperature.

What sensor is it? Its probably something you need to put in your new intake.

You are probably talking about your mass air flow sensor, I'm gonna look it up on autozone and see if I can find out for sure from your description.
But the mass air flow sensor should just be on the pipe and you can still use that pipe. The only other I can think of is the intake air temperature sensor and I don't see how that could be that big.
Any way you can take a pic and show us exactly what you are talking about?
thanks

If your MAF isnt hooked up, your car wont half run.
