Main Bearings for my motor

K this is kinda hard to explain so I will do my best.

I recently baught a 95 eclipse RS with DOHC 2.0L 420A motor. I had to buy an oil pressure sensor but the one for the 95 looked totally different then the one on my car. It ended up being for a 97 that fit.

Me and my buddy decided to port and polish and while I was at it, rebuild. Here is the thing. I ordered the Main barings for a 95 RS and the barings without the holes to shoot oil to the crank shaft would not fit. The key is on wrong side. The barings with the holes fit fine. So I went to order barings for a 97 seeing how the oil sensor worked like that, but the guy at advance said the eclipse from 95 to 99 are all the same with the 420A. So we started thinking the owner before me had an engine swap. We even ran the vin number off the block and it said it's a block for a 95 to 99.

So why are these bottom barings not fitting and have the key on the wrong side? My buddy said I could just use the same barings that have the holes for top and bottom of block, it will just send more oil to the crank shaft. We are so lost here. Hope I explained this enough to understand.

Anyone know why the right yr model barings are not fitting the right year model for the car?

The blocks for the 95s are different then the 96-99. Just like you found out the main bearings have the notch located in the wrong spot. You could buy another set but just dremel a notch and make the bearings you have fit. I did it along with lots of others who have this problem.
