Hello and thanks for looking!!
I am a little new at this put i have a few questions, and i hope that i can get them all answered on here.
Ok first i bought this 1990 mitsubishi eclipse gsx, it had a cyclone engine in it!
Put they couldnt get the butterfly valves to work so the put just the stock intake manifold on it.
My question was that i was woundering what all exactly is inside of the cyclone motor? The guy i bought it from said he got it from Japan for $2700 and the tranny.
So I am woundering what they usually come with stock from Japan?
My guess is that it has forged pistons, rods, better cranck, and cams, and what not. Does anyone know exactly what they have in them?
And My next question is,
What all do i need in order to make 500+ Horsepower?
I have a list but i dont know exactly what brands, and what not i want to get, but i have an idea of what i want to get.
So the list goes as follows...
I want to take this motor and keep it pretty much stock. ( it is the cyclone motor from japan without the cyclone intake.)
I want to put in 750 cc fuel injectors, a Walbro 255 fuel pump, maybe like a td05H 20g turbo at 30psi (could this engine handle that?) or should i just go with a td05h 16G turbo? I want to put in a fuel pressure regulator.
What kind of a bov would i have to buy to handle that much pressure?
I would also like to buy a better clutch, maybe like an act or something stage 3 off of ebay maybe.
And then i would like to ofcourse get my car tuned.
But other than this i have no idea what to do or where to go.
Please post with any answers you may have!!!
Thanks a bunch!!!

I know what it takes
you're pretty far off on everything.
Its hard to explain this properly but need to do ALOT more research on this one. check the tuners upgrade path really consider your budget and these types of questions are so super generic you really shouldn't be asking them.

Not many people hit over 500hp on these cars. If very possible but takes a lot of time and money. You need to worry about pushing 250-300hp way before you even think about 500+. You need to do a lot of research.

for example I could say you need a 60-1
slivr could say gt35r
thor06 might recommend a holset hx35
t3's t4's mitsu housings everything.
I might say twin walboros someone could say bosch
BOV might be tial or greddy type r or hkssqv
clutch hmm ptt twin disc or exedy twin or maybe act 2900
who is right?

Trust me, you don't even wanna start dabbling into the 500hp range. Everything breaks... Sometimes before you even get to drive it. lol :(

Built and broke?... A very well known fact. Why? Cause it's a DSM and it's just their nature to be broke all the time. lol :evillol:

Most stock motor guys top out at 350-400hp just because they want to break the car. But the possibilities are out their for that much power, its just more then likely not going to make it to see numbers like that.

Anyone wonder why we have the "Don't ask about how to make 500hp when you havent made 300hp" rule on Tuners? :icon16:

You raise an excellent point here... Only one problem with that. No matter how hard we try to incorporate it, noobs will still ignore it. Just like all the "Read this before posting" stickies we had that included 90% of the answers to threads that noobs would post anyways... :(
Aww the joys of modding... Popcorn? lol

lol...we were all there once...
ok, first, research the cyclone...like anywhere
second, start by going to autozone and get a haynes manual for yuor dsm, and start learning about it by fixing small things that might need fixing...and look through the book
read random chat forums on these cars and i promise you will learn all you need to know about our cars...
then once you have a better idea of what your looking at in a project, you can start your project list...
read read read these forums
i personally recommend you start with a nice stroker and turbo kit...from a real company not ebay,to start a good platform, but dont be cheap this is important that you have nice stuff you know...i have a hahn racecraft, bill hahn(the owner)has an rs himself with this kit and makes 10 second qtrs...in other words, nice turbo kit for the money and is backed, and can do just about all youll need it to ever do
http://www.turbosystem.com/auto/eclipse/eclipse.htm
from there, you can upgrade fuel...ignition....and dont forget clutch and cooling...maybe a mishimoto radiator...i have a c&r one, works just fine for me
any questions just ask =)

He has a turbo car. Hahn shouldn't even be a candidate for parts or builds.

do you mean to say he can make 500hp w/o a bottom end build?

what do you mean? he can make 500hp w/o a bottom end build? or that his stock turbo will do for what hes looking for? lol i was just saying since he mentioned he ultimately wanted 500hp, which of coarse is prob not going to happen based on the original post, no offense at all, but i was just answering his question so hed be happy =)
but why isnt hahn a candidate for his build?

no of coarse it doesnt, you made a statement, i asked a question:screwy:
but i kindly asked if youd explain the reasoning behind why hahn isnt a candidate for a 500hp goal/build

Hahn makes stuff for the 4g63? I thought they were all about building the 420a's... Least that's what they used to be all about...
**EDIT**
After looking at their page, it looks like all they do is sell a few bolt on items for the 4g63. No matter what motor he is working with he'll have to build it to reach a 500hp goal... I don't understand what's so confusing here. Lando said Hahn wouldn't be a choice in this matter and now I see why. They don't offer much of anything for the 4g63... If the kid had a 420a then ok, maybe a factor then.

That page alone is so wrong, it is scary.
Hahn is the 420a guy, no doubt, but the 4g63 stuff there isn't worth the time or effort.
Build paths are well laid out on DSMTuners. This user should start there.

Geez their prices for crap is outrageous... Yeah even if I was doing a 420a I think I would go a different route... So much cheaper to put together your own kit...

sry i was unclear as to what he was talkling about....i just got it too, sry lando slow on the uptake...:iceslolan
but yeah, i overlooked the fact that he was working with a 4g63, and my having a 420a i automatically assumed hahn made stuff for both...never really looked up the 4g63
my bad my bad
