Tail light problemBlazin1 11-19-2008, 01:21 PM My wife's 1996 Cavalier keeps blowing the driver side taillight bulb. I change it and 3 to 4 days later it goes out again. the last time i changed it, one side of the bulb was slightly melted (where the bulb connects). Any ideas why its doing this and how to fix??? J-Ri 11-20-2008, 05:25 PM Probably a bad connection causing high resistance causing heat causing melting. Replace the socket. Be sure you're using the correct bulb, drawing more amps than the socket was designed for will case melting too. I'm guessing the bulb isn't actually burnt out, right, just not making contact? If it's burnt out, buy better bulbs :) Blazin1 11-21-2008, 11:55 AM Hey Thanks for the info J-Ri. Is there a way to replace the socket without cutting the wires? I'm pretty sure I bought the right bulbs, so it must be the socket. The socket is a little melted to. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
