I am trying to replace the radio for my girlfriend and I can't, for the life of me, get this console to pull any further out than 1 or 2 inches. Do I have to unscrew the heater and ac controls from the back?
I drove 20 miles to the parts store just to find out that they don't make a Haynes or Chilton manual for these cars. You have to buy a package and subscribe to the web site just to get the info.
Thanx Dug

Yes, you need.
Because the radio is connected to the front console in same way as the climate control. So you don't have the choice but to disconnect all the wire by the rear of the console: cigarette lighter, climate control knob... etc
For that, it's very complicate. And hard.
You need first, to remove the right glove door.
Second, remove the panel under the driver side.
And finaly, put your hand through the panel space and remove the connection behind the center console.
Then do the same, but through the glove box.
Good luck.
And don't loose the clips, when you remove the panel.
