OEM disc changer

I inquired about the disc changer for my 1999 Catera at the dealership, and they want $800 installed! I found one on the web at www.partydown.com (I know, funny name). It is $285 and claims it to be OEM equipment. They have a three-year warranty. Has anyone bought from them? Any comments? Does anyone know of another place they were happy with for this kind of purchase? Thanks for you help!

$285 isn't a bad price. I'd ask if it comes with the mounting brackets. But, I used to own a Catera until GM took it back as a lemon. I've got the CD changer, CD changer cable (in case your car didn't come with one already installed), and the mounting bracket that I'll sell you for $250 shipped anywhere in the Continental U.S.

Be advised of one thing, the aftermarket CD Changers that integrate with the stock head unit won't play CD-Rs. It's something with the internals of the changer itself.

I paid $410 for the changer back when I got it. That didn't include the bracket and the cable, which was an extra $90. It was still better than the factory's $800 price tag.

Yes! I bought one from them...they are wonderful people! Also...your car is probably pre-wired from factory, so installation will be EASY! On the right-hand side ofyour trunk, a little twisty knob and there in the pocket will be wires. However...if you don't REALLY like your Catera...GET RID OF IT BEFORE ITS TOO LATE. Bad experience with one. Who knows, yours may be different??
