Eclipse (420a) Replaced all the sensors and the pcm. Checked all the wiring from each sensor all the way back to the pcm and everything is good. Checked the coil and its fine. Sometimes when you first turn the key to start it it fires like it wonts to run but will not do it. I checked the plugs for fire and have none. Good signal from the crank and cam sensors. Checked all the wires from the inj. all the way back to the pcm and its fine. I get a code 12 and 22 from the check engine light. PLEASE HELP ME

12 is your mass air flow sensor, remove/clean or replace
22 is your cranckshaft position sensor.
go here:

and download all the codes. be happy. i know from 94 that it won't start if MAF is disconnected.

same difference for his purpose, right? i am not the one who wrote the codes description. says MAF in the article.
i believe it's the large mesh inside the air intake, looks like french fries cutter. been some 7 yrs since i worked on those....:crying:
matter of fact, neither one of us is correct. it's mass air flow meter. but it does look like french fries cutter.

The MAP is located in the intake manifold on the passenger side. It sit straight up with the connector facing towards the hood.

We know... if you're throwing a CEL for the MAS, it's referring to the MAP. It's practically the same thing, but measures the pressure instead of the actual flow. Same basic thing though.

Have you replaced with another ECU? Maybe the computer is going bad. Does it smell like burnt electronics at all? Pop off the cover and see if anything is fried. Try another one if you can find one.

on the map sensor my book says that #2 on the plug is power and #1 is ground. On the plug when you check for power #1 is power and #2 is ground.
