Slow down will help.
Synthetic oil could give you 2% on the highway. More in the winter and for short trips.
Air up the tires a couple #s over specs. More air in the front versus the rear.
Simple stuff combined can give 5% or more depending on the right foot.
My 07 W/Auto gives 34-35 MPG in the summer "real mileage not the DIC" on the highway at 60 with 10% ethanol. No chips no gimmicks. Using Amsoil 5W-30 XL. Tires firm not hard about 38 front 32 rear.
If I can get 34 with an auto a stick should get 35-37. I know of some that do better and not the newer 08 model that some are hitting 40+.
With my auto I have seen 38 on the DIC doing 55 or so on a 3 tank average. In real world numbers that was 35.2 on what was assumed no ethanol.
Ethanol will drop mileage. About 3-4% for every 10%.
There are other things I do but this is a start.
In my 35 years of automotive work aftermarket chips usually only profit the sales person. There are exceptions but very few when it comes to increasing mileage.

Wifey poo just reminded me of a trip she took from north Philly to northern Delaware and back this past May with my 07 balt W/Auto.
Temps around 60. She said average speed was about 55, 60 a little bit not much. Got 39-ish on the DIC. I'd estimate in real world numbers she hit 37-38.
