Last week i noticed that i was getting smoke when accelerating. So i take it to get looked at, he says cracked rings, oil burning, cost a lot to fix, cars only worth about 2000, same old song and dance. but also says engine still runs good and should be for a while.
.
he said they put a heavier oil in there to help the smoke, but it still smokes and seems like more then before.
.
Im going to try some no-smoke additive, i know its not a fix but hopefully will help it till i possibly get a new car.
.
has anyone tried this stuff and any sucess or have any other tips because it annoys me pretty bad. Good news though car actualy seems to run better then before i got it looked at.

I have had the same problem with my 92 diamante. I have tried oil additives and they have helped but in the end I have just replaced the rings for about 300.00 and I did it myself and it wasnt all to hard. When my friends car was smoking, he actually tried a diesel motor oil (stupid) and claimed that it worked. But I definitely do not recommend that you try it.
