hey fellow kia friends :) just baught a kia,have 2 questions,:popcorn:#1 does the waranty transfer over to me, or is the waranty only good for the origional owner . :dogpile:and #2 , if the timing belt breaks on the 2001 kia sephia, does the valves bend, or is it ok, is it a differential or non differential engine

Assuming it is like the 2000 Kia Sephia's, I believe the engine is an 'interference' type - where the valves get bent if the belt breaks. The timing belt is supposed to be changed at 60,000 or 70,000 miles. You should also change the idler and tensioner pulleys at the same time; in fact they come in a kit together to do it.
Since you have to remove the timing belt to change the water pump - it would be a good preventive repair to change the water pump along with the timing belt.
If the car has over 70,000 on it and you dont KNOW the timing belt has been replaced - I would advise doing it. I did it on a friends car. It took me about 3 hours.
I also looked underneath and found that the cv joint boots were both ripped on on the outer cv joints, even though the car had only 80,000 miles on it. So you might want to have a look at those also.
I dont know about the warranty, never having owned a car new enough for it to be a question.

wow, thanks alot,it has 67,000 miles ,and i know its never been changed,have to save money for that,and do those other things also,had a few cv joints go on the other cars i had,seems like common wear and tear on cars thanks again,was a lot of help
