Never had 4 wheel drive so I'm a novice at 4WD. My son called and said his 99 Expl 6Cyl is stuck in Low. He will bring it over tomorrow. I read the posts on a 93. What do I need to check first? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

First thing I would do, is take a hammer and start tapping on the transfercase motor it is connected on the back of the transfercase it should look a lil something like this http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:BAO7a3nXJGHj3M:http://thumbs.1aauto.com/FWM/1AFWM00006.jpg
beat on it a little with a hammer while having the nob in 4high and in neutral and if that dont work take the shift motor off and manually put it in 4high

No problem, You're welcome. Goodluck with it. You may need to hammer it a little hard just don't dent the shift motor casing :)

I dont know if i am to late but i had the same problem with my 98 and found that that shift solenoid under the hood was stuck. i switched it with the solenoid for the windows and it worked then i put the original one back in and that one started to work agian and now have no problems. i call it a solenoid for lack of better terms but it looks like a huge fuse. look up your fuse descriptions and you should see it there.

Good info, I'll have to remember that, because I forgot sometimes disconnectnig the batt. will do the trick too.
