PLEASE HELP... dont want my baby to die!!!!!
J30... high miles. just started a serious knocking noise in the engine and has always been very reliable as far as engine performance. i did not put in the wrong gas and have filled up w/ premium for sure. it started a day or two after accidentally filling engine up w/ half a quart too much of oil (may be cause but wont stop).... but drained oil to proper level and still knocks badly. valves maybe? any help will be appreciated!

because you say your engine has a lot of miles on it, it could be a rod. also theirs no telling how the previous owner treated it. possible reasons could be a rod, fuel injection problem, bad timing belt position, faulty cooling system, ect.. my advice is if the car means a lot to you then take it to a local shop, get a diagnosis from a certified technition. just to be on the safe side. but a knock in the engine will lead to serious problems down the road, if not taken care of soon.
hope this helps

thank you! actually it was a rod... i had to swap out the engine and it kind of sucks b/c i swapped for a used engine and it does not perform quite as well as my other one did before the rod. i still have the broken engine and would like to eventually place it back in if i can fix the problem. can you fix an engine w/ this particular problem? i dont think it failed completely b/c the engine didn't seized.
thank you for your insight!

IF you know the engine is good then just change the rod and now that the engine is out it a good time to change the water plugs the oil pump the and the bearings. In others words do a complete over haul off the engine
