'97 2.5-liter runs ruff cold, smooth warm. Need help, suggestions

Does the 2.5 have a cold-start valve or an extra cold-start injector? Or does anyone have any ideas why my '97 JXi 2.5 runs like crap when I start it cold but runs fine when it's warm? Cold means after sitting for more than four hours.
It's got 67k miles on it and original plugs and wires, but I've checked the plugs and they're still like new. Wires seem good. My "service engine soon" light came on a while back, and a mechanic charged me $90 to tell me the codes was "missing #2 cylinder." Since then, the cold idle has steadily gotten worse. But mileage is still about the same and as I said, it runs fine when warm.
Ideas or experiences, please?
Thanks very much.

Hi your car does not have these but what it sounds like to me is a leaking intake gasket.
Take a can of carb cleaner and spray around the intake (all sealed areas but not next to TB) while the car is running. If the car idles up you have an intake gasket blown.
I have replaced many on the 2.5's.
