i have a 95-96 accent. i just replaced the down pipe cuz of a leak in the flex pipe area. i needed to replace the sensor also since the pipe i replaced with had a different plugin. whats that sensor do initially, and can it wait a while before replacing(leaving it unplugged)

not a big hyundai mechanic, but it most likely is gonna throw a "check engine" light. other than that i think it will run just fine. its one of those emission sensor thingies :). i would check with someone else also tho.

a 96 has OBDII, this should trigger a check engine light because the downstream O2 sensor readings will be out of range. The computer uses the downstream sensor to determine the effectiveness of the catalytic convertor. It compares the upstream and downstream readings to see the difference and infers whether or not the cat is functional from this data.
