I have noticed that when I start the engine in the morning I have noticed a pudle of cooolant on the garage floor. A friend told me this means my water pump is bad. Can someone tell me if this is so, and is this hard to change, or would you suggest I bring it to the dealer, so they can charge me $$$. I would appreciate any comments.
Thanks

I also have a 95 legacy and i replaced the water pump it wasnt hard except u have to take off the timing belt. To save money u can do it yourself but taking it to the dealership would b the best idea

If you can, find a good mechanic for Subarus in your area.
(Ask here on the forum).
Or, on cars.com you can find local recommendations.
But I wouldn't recommend taking to dealer--too expensive.

Oh, and also, you may have quite a little while till the pump actually goes.
I left mine go forever and it was amazing how much wear it took before it actually poured like Niagra.

also if you havent changed it yet, let the car sit for a while and get cold, then crack an egg in the radiator and start it. It should keep it from leaking for a while. (Mythbusters) haha
