Car Jerks at Red Lights

When I come to a stop at red lights and stop signs, my car, A 2005 Hyundai Accent, jerks forward - it feels like I've been rear-ended, even though I have not. The first time it happened, my car was then unable to go forward. The engine was running, and revved when I pressed the gas, but did not move at all. I shut the car off, and turned it back on after a few minutes, and was able to get going again. It happened about 3 or 4 more times on the same drive (though these other times, the car did not stop running forward after the jerking). The car only has 17000 miles. Any ideas what the problem might be? I bought it used, so I'm not sure what the warranty will cover if I call a dealer.

you only have 17000 miles on the car, it's under warranty, go to the dealer.

The revving without moving sounds like it may have dropped a gear into neutral. But im not sure why that'd cause it to jerk. Could be a transmission thing. Go to dealership while under warranty FTW
