Engine Swapping. . ..

I have a '93 SC1 and was wondering about putting a DOHC engine in it, and also if the SOHC transmision will conflict with the DOHC engine??

I have a 97 SC1 and want to do the same thing
Anyone correct me if I'm wrong cause I really have'nt started yet,
1st off you will need the DOHC cylinder head with all corresponig components (Valves, valve springs, cams, cam gears, etc.), timing chain cover, timing chain, ecu, wiring harness (if SOHC & DOHC are already not the same), exhaust maniflold, I think the intake manifolds are the same, valve cover, head gasket for DOHC, I think that's all, anyone who has more info please add or correct.

I'm not sure if you have to change the tranny but if you do, it probably isn't worth swapping the engine.

Prices of swapping saturn engines (heads) can be very costly, and estimated guess would be around 1500, but since I own a SC1 it may be well worth it if your a SATURN enthusiast. I recently bought a 92 Civic HB, and have that new car excitement so my satty is being ignored right now.

first, just to make it clear, the SOHC and DOHC engine blocks are the same. so in a nut shell the camcover is the primary thing you need to change. i beleave the intakes are the same, but only on 1995 and later SOHCs. the earlier SOHC have different intake manifolds and piping, plus a different type of fuel injection ( TBI vs. MFI) if i had to do the swap i would only do it post 1995 cars. i would rather just buy a DOHC. you would save a lot of time and money, plus don't forget the different wheels, brakes, trim, gauges, and i'm sure there's a LOT more.
