Will the 35"x12.5"x15" tires fit on my 2001 xterra SE, if it has a 3" suspension lift along with a 3" body lift? I am not sure of the rims backspacing, cause it's a package deal for $400. The tires are bf goodrich and only have around 5,000 miles on them, so i figured i'd go for it if they'd fit. thanks for any help!!!!!

Sure if you want to cut sheetmetal. Even if you did cut your gearing would be so far off the truck would be virtually undriveable and the suspension and steering components would have an extrememly short life.
Stick to 33" or less.

get ready to be creative. Sure the $400 deal may be sweet but after strapping 35's on you'll be needing more monies. I have been using this as a reference...

It is a little bit dated, but still good.

There's one guy running 35s on his X, had to do some sheetmetal trimming and then put Bushwhacker Jeep Cherokee fender flares on. The rear flares had to be cut into two pieces, and he bolted the front half of it directly to the rear door. Better than trying to bolt it to the sliver of sheet metal between the door and fender lip anyway, that flare would be a dirty nasty thing for rear passengers to have to dodge getting in and out.
On his first trip out he snapped a tie rod or two.

Stormy is running 35's. On the last trail run, he just took off the rear mup flaps(temporary fix). You will need both 3" suspension and 3" body lift, steering upgrades and a most likely some new gears....just guessing but you will probably still rub on something...Here's a really bad pic (if I can get this too work) BTW, I don't think Stormy has internet access right now.

LovetheX, where are you in MD? What color is your X? I saw a lifted bronze or goldrush one w/ an ARB on Rt. 32 near Clarksville last week that I didn't recognize, thought I knew all the built Xterras in the area.

I had wheels custom made for me by Wheels of Steel in Visalia, CA.
http://www.custombuiltsteelwheels.com/
15x7, 4.5" BS, came to about $60 a wheel shipped to Virginia.
These allowed me to fit my 35x12.50 MT/R's pretty damn well (still took some trimming, but not too bad. Here's a pic at full compression in the back.) I have a 2" BL on my X, one inch less than Stormy has.

I for one would love to see some pictures of your rig with your new MTR's Gothamist. In action preferably, but driveway shots are OK. Any R&P plans? Waiting for T-case gears?
Cool.
Cool.

Unfortunately all I have so far are poser shots, I just got them on last week.
So far the power is okay, one thing that works in my favor is that the MTR's are a lot lighter for their size than my old SSR's. I weighed them, and the 35" MTR's on 15x7's weigh 85 pounds each, while my spare 32" SSR (which has no wear on it) weighs 87 pounds on the stock XE steel rim.
I've put about 700 miles on them as of yet, and on the past two tanks (mainly highway driving) I've gotten 16mpg, which is much better than I expected. The only downside is that my speedo is 22% off. :(
I can live with the power on the street, so I'm hoping & holding out for transfer case gears...affording them will be another matter though.

From the front.
http://www.vikramkirby.com/cliffy_front.jpg
And a side shot from the back showing how much the tires stick out from the wheelwells (3/4" more than stock.)
http://www.vikramkirby.com/tires_stick_out.jpg
LoveTheX--hope this helps. You can probably fit them those tires in if you don't mind befriending a Sawzall, but the backspacing on the wheels will probably give you problems. And I second the recommendation for a beefy steering setup if you do get them.

A good friend of mine picked up a really sweet Miller MIG, and lets me use his garage whenever I want...so I've been building a few things. He's got a whole lot of tools I don't have (i.e. plasma cutter, Bridgeport mill, etc.) which make building stuff a hell of a lot fun.
Anyway, that was all the impetus I needed to make my own bumper...and I decided to ditch the rear quarter panel plastic while I was at it.
Here are some pics.

Seems you're the 4th on 35s, not the second. There's the silver one in NJ, then Stormy in NH, some guy in a yellow one that surfaced recently, and now Gothamist. Then of course Pika and the 36" swampers...

Ok everyone thanks you all very much for the help!!!!!!! However, i have some final questions. Gothamist those are 12.5 inch wide tires on your truck in the pictures, correct? And when u ordered the specially made rims for your X what backspacing did u get on them and what was the rim size 15x7, i think u mentioned? Also, this is what i wanted 33x12.5x15 in tires on my X. With this i will get a 3" suspension lift, 3" body lift, a slr steering stabilizer, an arb front bumper with the brush guard, and.....what else would i need to ensure a sturdy ride? and to prevent rubbing? Did u have to do alot of work on your X gothamist?
and again thanks for any help!!!!!!

Don't forget the HD steering system you're going to need with that setup. Gothamist and I both have the Spencerlowracing.com one.
