Starterjohnb2334 03-22-2007, 07:44 PM Seems a friend of mines starter went out on her Trooper. Looking to replace it and have never replaced a starter. Can someone give me a clue where I can locate it and what tools and work will be envolved? Thanks! amigo-2k 03-22-2007, 07:59 PM what year is the truck? johnb2334 03-22-2007, 08:00 PM Sorry, 2000 trooperbc 03-22-2007, 08:32 PM Sorry, 2000 the hardest part is you have to remove at least part of the exhaust pipe to work the starter out see this thread about 4 threads down http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=222510 it's on the drivers side where the engine and trans mate the bolts, unlike other vehicles, face *down* so that parts easy take the wheel off and the skirt and it's easier any other questions after you read...? //bc johnb2334 03-23-2007, 09:21 AM Thanks for the info. I read another thread yesterday and it said that you do not have to remove the exhaust if it is not a 4x4. I did not mention that I will be working on a 4x2, does this change the work envolved? amigo-2k 03-23-2007, 05:19 PM if you have a 4x2 I believe it is possible to wiggle it out. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
