This is a Lotus Super Seven with a C6 Corvette's LS2 small block V8 shoehorned into it. The pictures are rubbish because it's so late... I'll try to get some natural light ones very soon!

Sorry, I didn't read through your text.
But One question: Why is it slanted in the front?
BUt all else looks nicely done! Good work!

The nose was slanted because I put it on wrong. Luckily, the glue didn't fully dry, so I just fixed it. Thanks for pointing that out!
If you're talking about the wheels, well, it's hard mating a Revell wheel to a Tamiya hub!

I don't like it! Bleh more or less concludes my first view after reading your screenname.
You should first try your hand at basic stuff...
The paint sucks, the modifications (especially front wheels) suck and the result is not really convincing, with the rubbish rollcage and crappy inserting of other kit's parts.
I m sorry, I know it sounds very harsh, but it's all about "helping" each other here, right?
I m helping you by saying you should first get your basics right.
Sorry for the hard post, I felt the need to give criticism with a solution.
Hope you're not too mad
Edit; I would like to hear all your views on this and similar posts ; please express your views on the thread http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=655722

I have to agree with bigfrit. It's a great idea, and you did well making it work... but your model is lacking care in the more important, fundamental areas.

needs a repaint, fix that roll cage and the front wheels, other than that it looks good.

Hey guys, are we maybe laying it on a bit thick?
I can completely appreciate the honesty here- but I think we might be carrying the 'constructive criticism' idea a bit far. Few of us produce 'perfect' models- or even build consistently at a level that we ourselves are satisfied with. But think for a moment- what would be useful for you?
There are useful ways to constructively criticise. If you're following a build thread and point out "hey, there's some orange peel there, this is how I often deal with it", that can be helpful. Looking at a completed build and saying "your painting skills suck", or "your painting skills could be better", or even "strip it and repaint it" isn't really helpful. Skills like painting develop only by practice- it's only by doing less than perfect bodies that allows us to learn how to do better. I expect we all know that the builder of a model is much more aware of the build shortcomings than anyone who just sees four pics of it. Few of us then really need to be told "hey, you're not there yet". You're being invited to view someone's learning processes. Most people post completed builds when they feel they are done- that they have taken a build as far as they can, and have done the best that they can with it. There's nothing at all wrong with giving suggestions while a build is underway. But if what you see completed is as good as the builder thinks he/she can do, do you really need to tell them "It could be better"?

I like it. It's a creative idea and an ambitious conversion. This type of fun and outlandish conversion is exactly what a group build is supposed to encourage. Good on you for doing it, and thanks for sharing and building along! It's the kind of thing I would find myself tempted to try and easy to start, but hard to bring myself to complete. I admire that you stuck with it and finished it- that's a skill I wish I could master.
The roll cage, uncovered engine, and fenderless wheels make it look alot like a Caterham prepared for a IMSA or SCCA event. Crazy and cool.

Okay, the finishing could have been better in some areas, but it still looks good. From a distance. Make that three kilometers. And wrap it in a paper bag, first.
Hehe, just kidding. Hehe. He. Oh, I'm such a joker. Nevertheless, it is a cool model. Okay, there are blemishes, and it doesn't look like it could just drive away on this very moment, like models made by, to name two, Kunta or Hiroboy do. But on other areas, such as originality, this is a really good model. That's just me speaking, though.

Can't say i like it. it looks to me you tryed something WAY over youre skill level, or you had to finish as fast as possible. The idee is nice, and I can understand things like the paint crazing. It's a long and hard progress to learn how to lay a good paintjob down. But little thing like no steering wheel? You used carbon fibre on the engine, did a rather nice job with the entire engine, and then you dind't bother to align the wheels correctly. The rollbar looks just like some clipped of spreu.. wich it is.
I've seen you're focus RS and it's WAY better than this car. I just don't get it.. you seam to gave a lot more skill than you displayed here, I'm sorry.
BTW I've done a caterham to... feel free do comment about it;-)

I'll admit it has its problems, but the questions I want to ask are 1)Did YOU have fun building it? 2)Are YOU happy with the outcome?
If your answers are yes, then I wouldn't worry about the "suck" comments too much.. I do think you could use more practice, but try not to get discouraged and just stick with it, have fun, and your skills will improve with time.

Hmm..intersting build but the thread could prove to be even more interesting.
OK. Before posting here, I decided to do some surfing on the forum (profiles, posts etc)
First of all, congratulations for taking on a pretty major conversion of a kit. Not an easy task any day and you did it - I never have. I guess you put in a fair bit of time and effort and I hope you had fun doing it.
Secondly, let me tell you honestly, That if, as modeler with 500 posts, you post a model in the completed forum with wonky wheels, orange peel in the paint, a hole in the back plate and crooked exhaust pipes you leave members with 3 choices.
a) Walk on by
b) Lie and say "OMG that's so awsome"
c) Post criticism - hopefully and preferably constructive in nature
IMO your build requires the third approach. But for you not for me.
I don't agree with how Bigfrit said it, but I do agree with what I believe his intentions were.

Yet Another Thread About Comments(tm)...
bigfrit, your comments were harsh, insultingly so. It's one thing to provide constructive criticism, it's another thing to use words like "sucks" and "rubbish" and "crappy inserting."
None of your reply in his post gave any feedback, tips or suggestions on how to make it better. You simply shit all over it. People post their work (and again, just my opinion, and what most people agreed with the last time this subject was brought up) to be critiqued in a professional manner, and to provide help. You didn't. You even took a cheapshot at his nickname, like that has anything to do with the situation.
From looking at his previous projects (and he's only had a handful, he's very new to the hobby) this is his first real kitbash, so problems are bound to creep up. In fact the only "harsh" criticism I'd have for him myself is to maybe slow down and take more time to see the project through before taking a bunch of pictures and posting them.
Here's how I would've responded, with your ideas but with my own methods:
I don't like it! Bleh more or less concludes my first view after reading your screenname.
In my honest opinion, it's a good effort and the idea is sound--crazy engine swaps in Caterhams are great! There are a few areas you need to work on, but the idea was sound.
You should first try your hand at basic stuff...
Next time you start a build, maybe take a little more time to test fit the components first, in particular the wheels, and sand down and unnecessary mold lines and injection pin marks... the rollcage, for example, has the right shape and thickness, but looks blocky because it was glued together hastily. Try gluing it together, and then going over it with a sanding stick for a while next time.
The paint sucks, the modifications (especially front wheels) suck and the result is not really convincing, with the rubbish rollcage and crappy inserting of other kit's parts.
The paint looks okay, but there's a fair bit of crazing in it--are you painting in cold or extra-humid conditions? Try to paint when temperature is around room temp, and if this is a consistent problem for you, you may want to try faster-drying top coats, like Dupli-color.
As far as the front wheels, one looks okay and the other one doesn't, so I suspect fitting Revell wheels isn't really the issue. Next time before you lay down the paint, test fit the wheels to the spindles to make sure they line up. If they don't, drilling out the wheels or repositioning the spindle will likely solve the problem.
As for the engine, it's an excellent choice and would make a wild ride in real life--400 hp in a Super 7! The engine looks reasonably detailed, and the carbon fibre on the fuel rail covers really sets it off--I'd maybe try running some rad hoses, either aftermarket or cutting up the stock ones, into and under the nose of the Super 7, since you can't really see the rad anyway. Some simple wiring of the battery would set it off nicely as well.
That wasn't so difficult....
Oh and deltableh, you forgot to put the steering wheel on ;)

The steering wheel isn't on for a reason. Frankly, it would rub against the transaxle, and that looked incredibly wonkey. So I left it off, and meant to put it on the seat, but I forgot. I do have it though.

Oh come on Ben!!!! (if I may call you that, please?)
You can't post in the completed forum with that kind of thing! And expect praise?!?! Why not wait 1-2 days and pay us the repsect of posting the best you are capable of?
Why didn't you leave the wheels off since they are rubbing on the body?
I take it from the fact that you posted your (SIGNIFICANTLY) better other build in the MS forum, you are of the opinion that THIS isn't the best you are capable of?
You want respect - I understand that. As I said earlier, I don't agree with the way Oli expressed himself but I also don't agree with naive postrationalisation. :(
