hi we had our keys stolen and the only key fob with it. we have a spare key but now no remote. so my two questions...
1. how do i shut off the alarm ( without going to a dealer) so i can use my spare key to turn on the car?
2. and will a key fob from a sonata work on the accent?
thanks

There are a few different ways to disable the alarm. Two that I can think of right now is to unhook the battery for about a half hour or so. The other is I think to cycle the key either in the ignition or the door 7 times. I think that's the way it is. Try one of those and see if it works. Unfortunately, everybody has gone home already since it was dead today. Everybody out shopping I guess instead of bring their car into the dealer. The Sonata key fob might work, but it would still have to be programmed to the car in order for it to do so. I have seen remotes go back and forth between Sante Fe's, Sonatas, and XGs, but never between an Accent and Sonata, so I can't say for sure if it'll take the program.
