Olds 98 Regency Transmission

Recently my olds began to delay shifting into gear while driving. I tried adding Lucas and TransX which for a short while seemed to help. A friend told me that it sounded like the transmission was slipping and need to be replaced. Does anyone have any other suggestions before I go down this road?

Slipping if in fact it is the problem is internal if the fluid is full.

Update: Turns out that the transmission wasn't slippping but that it was low on fluid and had a bad seal. Thanks for all the help.

I drive a 95 Olds 98 Regency and it has 156,000 miles on it; it'd been doing a weird kind of vibrating/shaking at certain speeds and I had a tune up, tranny flush, sensors checked, blah blah blah. Finally talked to a technician at an oil-changing chain which suggested I check the tranny filter...turns out it was the original filter so I changed it out and it's back to running like a purring kitten. I just never thought about the transmission filter and no mechanic had mentioned it til now.

Welcome to AF. Another reason not to do a trans flush, especially at high mileage. BTW in the future start a new thread this is way to old, thanks.
