What do they do? How mcuh do they cost? How and where can I get one? Can I install one myself?
Basically I know nothing about them, but I've heard you can increase your car's perfromance, by getting one, or getting your's tweaked.

it highers your rev limiter, changes where your vtec kicks in, adjusts your fuel, and i think ignition, but i dont know how much hp it makes. my friend has a skunk2 chip, so he has no rev limiter, and his vtec kicks in very hard. different chips have different rev limiters and you can install it yourself if you know how to solder.

Most chips will just piggy-back off your existing ECU and will mostly adjust your fuel-map. Unless you spend a lot of money, or are planning on a stand-alone system (replaces your stock ECU), expect your fuel mileage to suffer. I'v read about certain chips which basically just plug right into your ECU, and your ready to go. Of course, like Than3o3 said, it always depends on the chip. SCC magazine sometimes has helpful articles.
