wiring help

I hooked up my 2 glow sticks + plate frame + window washer shooter lights (not sure what they're called.. cobra lights..yea) to a switch...

it seemed to work fine for 5 minutes without heating up the wires so i drove home (20 minutes) and i get there and start smelling some funny shit... so i open the hoodup and there is smoke everywhere!!! so im like wtf... and yank the wire off the battery..

I had all the grounds and powers hooked up right.. at least I thought i did.. so what I need to know is...


how do you install this shit.. or how did you guys do yours?

Oh.. I used all new wires.. didn't touch factory wiring.. just FYI.

Did these things have resistors on them, or fuses?

The glow tubes had cigarette adapters on them, which we cut off and then spliced the wires to new wiring from radio shack, in which we put on little crimpers at the end and hooked to the switch.... so im not sure.. I think that the switch had a fuse on it though.
