need help with 2.2 sunfire

ok my wife has a 1997 2.2 sunfire and it will not rev over 2000 rpms the computer was reading a bad tps so i changed it and it is still not doing anything. has anyone ever ran into this prob. if so i would like your help or anyone with some info let me know anything would help at this point please email me with any ideas at [email protected]. please help:banghead: :banghead:

I suspect you have a plugged cat that is causing too much back pressure to allow the engine to rev beyond the 2k level. Pull it loose and start the engine with open exhaust. If the car revs, problem solved.

ok i tried the cat and it was fine. the car now has a new tps and a new crank senser and it still wont rev above 2 grand. i dont know much about the new cars and have never worked on a 2.2 so any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Have you checked the fuel filter if its plugged?

ok well i think i found the problem when i took the fuel filter off the gas that came out was black looked like coffee so i am goin to drain the tank, clean the lines and get new injectors because the stuff that was run threw them was the worst i ever seen. has anyone ever heard of the o-ring going bad on the injectors on a 2.2? I know on semi trucks they go bad and the oil passes threw and travels back to the tanks. thank you for your help and i am sure i will be back to ask more questions.

well it gas was not the problem changed all that and nothing changed in the way it was running i took it to the shop and they could not find the problem the comp. was just giving goofy codes so now i am going to change the comp. amd if that doent fix it i dont know what i am going to do i might just scrap the P.O.S i am done with this car but if you have any ideas let me know

well changed the ECM and nothing but i did talk to someone and they told me that these cars are bad for grounds going bad and to check the wires going into the fire wall. well that is my job today and i will let you know how it goes. :disappoin :banghead:
