i was wonder what it took for a car to use e85 because my friends 89 ranger rover and 86 dodge truck can use with no problem and he hasn't done anything special to them, can any car run on it, does it require a certain compression ratio or what?

Generally it involves replacing all the rubber o-rings with synthetic ones to prevent them from breaking down. There are also tuning requirements that are incorporated into the computer that configures the engine for the properties of ethanol. It is not something that you can do on your own.

ACTUALLY....it depends on what kind of alcahol it is, you might be able to use it in an injection system OUTSIDE of your stock system, I'm thinkin about it for the S/C to up the octane and cool the combustion charge. One of the two types of alcahol is a corrosive, so the experts recommend, the type that isn't corrosive (I thing thats the ethanol, but I'm not sure, more reading to come).

Remember, you cant run it like normal gas, I'm talking about an alcahol injection system, which puts the alcahol in the intake, not through the injectors.

If this was confusing, just dont use the E85, it is bad unless you are set up to use it.
