idle speed control motor

1991 sunbird LE 2.0L 4 cyl does anyone know if this car would have and idlespeed control motor casue autozone.com says taht the car doesnt have it im only checking the regular sunbird not the LE. if u know that this car has a idle speed control motor where would it be located? my mechanic said to check that casue the oil light has been coming on.

The idle air control valve is Wells part number AC113 and is available at autozone for $69.99, so tell the folks at your autozone they are wrong. It is located on the side of the throttle body and should be very easy to get to.

when my dad asked him about the low idle and the oil light coming on he said that it cant be the oil sensor if it just flickers and just goed out. i just need to fine some easy thing to see if i can fix the low idle problem. he told ust to take the nut off on the idle control screw csaue we put it on their to try and stom the oil light from coing on. wut would be easy to check and see wut is casueing the low idle? i will try and replace the idle air control valve too. rock auot has one about 50$.

If you have not cleaned it recently just remove the IAC and spray it with throttle body cleaner. Then clean the inlet hole to the throttle body with the same spray. Let everything dry and replace it. A can of throttle body cleaner is much less than a new IAC motor and if it is just dirty then it should speed up the idle. If it is indeed bad nothing will happen. Make sure you do not push the pintle while the IAC is out of the throttle body as it can damage it.
As for the oil light make sure you have the right amount of oil and the correct oil filter. The idle would have to be extremely low for the light to come on. If I were you I would get a manual guage and install it to see what the pressure really is. The pressure has to be less than 5 psi for the light to come on if it truly is that low then the engine is going to suffer damage if you don't find the problem soon.
As for the oil light make sure you have the right amount of oil and the correct oil filter. The idle would have to be extremely low for the light to come on. If I were you I would get a manual guage and install it to see what the pressure really is. The pressure has to be less than 5 psi for the light to come on if it truly is that low then the engine is going to suffer damage if you don't find the problem soon.

as for the oil light it only comes on only when im at a light and then the steering wheel is turned. now the alternator ive looked at on the outside and the coils look dirty and i was going to see if i can get it cleaned(coils are dirty) could this be causing these problems?

i cleaned the iac and going to see if it works. their is just too mych greese on the engine and this summerim going to buy like 10 cans of degresser to clean it. and i have to get new piston rings. :(

If you need rings then the problem may be bad oil control rings and worn cam bearings. The cam bearing clearance controls the oil pressure and if they are worn that could be your problem. You stated that when you turn the wheel the oil light comes on. The drop in oil pressure is happening when you place a load on the engine. That indicates that there are internal problems and you are probably going to end up with a rebuild soon or at least a new oil pump. If you are running 5W30 oil you might try a 10W40. The thicker oil can buy you some time since it is thicker and will hold a little more pressure.

for the IAC do i have to take it out to clean it? Theri are two oles on the carb. and i sprayed some in the one near the IAC. would this do anything to clean it?

take off the IAC, wash the end of it, DONT MOVE IT!!!, and replace it in the TB. simple. if you move it, you could damage it. When you restart it it will idle funny, but give it a sec or two to relearn idle.

in the repair book it shows a rubber gasket. should i worry about this or not, it isnt glued on their is it?

naw, I removed mine, the gasket is pretty thick, and mine just compressed again. If you feel better, wipe a thin coating of RTV on it to give it that little extra. I even moved mine, but dont bottom it out it could damage the servomotor. it's scarry at first, becaue it idles all over the place (usually real high LOL) then after a few seconds, it returns to normal.

now u talked about the thing moving in the center. is it supose to move easily caue mine isnt really moving at all eben if i put a little preassure on it.

You may hear a slight tick but you will not hear the fuel actually spray. You can remove the air cleaner and look at the nozzle and you should see it spray into the throttle body.

test the IAC, procedure is in the haynes manual.
As for the TBI, it might not even click.
Mine, at idle, just sprayed a tiny amount of fuel onto the TB butterfly. the thing in the center of the TB is the fuel injector, you can touch it and feel it working, and see it spraying fuel.

yeah i seen the spray i was just wondering casue it sounds like it got louder over time.
