Hello i just got a 1993 "Nissan Sunny L" 3-door hatchback given to me. Its the one that has the shape of a Nissan Pulsar.

I have bit of a problem with the headlights though. When the engine is running, both headlamps work on sidelights. But when i switch to mainbeam the n/s headlamp works fine, but the o/s headlamp doesnt go to mainbeam, instead the relay switch makes a buzzing noise. (but the headlamps *usually* work fine if the engine isnt running (the same problem does occur just not as often)). The lights work fine on highbeam regardless of if the engine is running or not..

So initially i thought that replacing the relay switch had gone, but i just been to the scrappers and put a new one on, and i have the same problem...

So it could be that the new switch i put in has had it also (since its not brand new) but maybe it could be another problem? Maybe a short somewhere? Trouble is i dont know where that short is likely to be..

Has anyone else had this problem or can somebody maybe point me in the right direction??

I could go to the Nissan Dealer and order a brand new relay to be on the safe side but i thought id ask here first rather then waste my money on something that might not need replacing.

Thanks

Your problem might be that the relay might not be able to handle the 14 vots that goes thought the system when the car is running from the alternator so cheak that before byinga new relay
