I have a 02 TB-82,000 miles... My service light came on for the first time ever. I took it in for a diagnostic test and the mechanic told me that the service code is P0495... That is all he could tell me. Does anyone know what this code stands for? The problem that I am having with it is that it takes a while to accelerate, but after I am going 65mph it is ok. It also makes a very loud noise. Almost like if it was a huge truck.

Don't see 0495, but the roar could be a locked up clutch fan which has been a problem with these trucks, will also loose power with the fan locked on.

another question... where is the clutch fan located? will that cause the service engine light to come on.

Yes it could and it is located on the water pump shaft.

is there a sensor by the clutch fan... if so does the sensor have to be replaced when the fan is repaired.

May need a software update with the new updated fan clutch, not sure, but further diagnosis is necessary here.

Not sure if you saw it or not but the code is (DTC P0495
Cooling Fan Speed High). Saw a better explination realted to Cadillacs at http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/pdf/eng-diags-2004.pdf Yes it is a caddy engine but still GM so good chance it may give you a better idea.

I bought a Trailblazer book and it said the same thing as the cadillac one. Thanks for your help.
