hard to start

i have a 95 sunfire,a/t,2.2. and the fuel pump does not cut in when key is turned to run, but will start after cranking for a while (approx 8 to10 sec's).The oil sending unit above the oil filter does not register continuity when engine is running,nor will engine start when wire is ground to chassis, only after cranking 8 to 10 sec's. The yellow wire at the plug to the fuel pump has voltage only when engine starts.
