Pulsar NX SE with bad motor - CA18DE?

I have a CA16DE 1987 Pulsar NX SE with a blown motor. Am having problems locating this motor, but have found a JDM CA18DE. Will this bolt up and work with my tranny & ECM? I'm really not looking for more power, just a functional motor.

From my research, the engine will "bolt right up" to the tranny and fit....but the ecu is a different story. Different injector harness and other stuff...something about the ca16de using a series resistor and the ca18de not....and other wiring issues. I'm sure its possible, but you might be in for quite a few hours of wire tracing, and splicing....anyway, that's what i've found, if I'm wrong, somebody please set me straight ;)
