Problemsgrappler119 10-20-2005, 06:33 PM Today while on my way home from work the service engine soon light came on  , on my 2002 XE V6 4X4, but I did not notice any particular difference it the way it ran or drove. When I got home I let the engine cool down a it and decide to check the fluid levels and also the gas cap. The gas cap seemed to be on nice and tight, and I have gone trough a half of tank of gas since the last fill up. While checking the fluids I noticed a distinct gasoline smell comeing from the oil the consistency of it is fine and the calor is a little redish, but not really to bad looking. I called the dealer and made an appointment for next week (earliest available)..Does anyone know what might cause this, or if it is ok to drive the truck? I still got to get to work to pay for those expensive dealer visits. Any help would be great. OffroadX 10-21-2005, 09:58 AM Not saying you're stupid, but are you sure you checked the oil and not the transmission fluid? Oil dipstick is on the driver's side. The transmission fluid dipstick is a lot more obvious and easy to mistake for the oil one. Even I was mistaken the first time. As for the light, you can drive with it on no problem unless it's flashing. Yeah I checked the right one... at first I thought it was the tranny dip stick but noticed the difference in the fliud right away. No the light is not flashing. Is the light flashing a indication of a major problem? grappler119 11-03-2005, 04:59 PM Just to let anyone interested know what the problem was; it was a semi clogged injector. After the dealership did a fuel system flush everything was hunky dory.. :smooch: Brett vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
