View Full Version : PCV Valve PCV Valve Pbum5 10-20-2005, 10:30 AM I wanted to ask if you have any tips on changing a PCV Valve. I did a search and could find anything. I know on most cars it’s just a matter of pulling it out and popping a new one in. But I gave it a little tug and its in there really good. Is it a screw out? It also looks like it’s covered. The replacement I got looks nothing like what it in there at a glance. I am assuming the PCV valve I am looking at is on the passenger side Valve Cover on a V6 2000 SE. Any insight or tip would be appreciated. Thanks. OffroadX 10-20-2005, 11:56 AM The PCV valve is attached to the upper intake plenum, not the valve cover. It's directly in-line with the last "N" in NISSAN as seen while standing on the driver's side of the engine bay. It is threaded in. I looked and saw the fitting you mentioned next to the last “N” on the plenum. Are you sure that’s a PCV Valve? It looks like a fitting for a vacuum on the Power Brake Booster with no connection to the crankcase. The part I got from xterraparts.com is Part # 11810-F0502 It does have threads and is a “Strait” fitting. The part on the plenum that’s on there now has a 90-degree fitting. Any thoughts? OffroadX 10-20-2005, 02:34 PM The PCV isn't on top of the plenum, it's on the driver's side just below the top. I could be wrong about it being threaded, but I'm certain that's the correct location. If you're standing by the driver's fender and look at the last "N" and then direct your eye down/back towards you it's right there. If you're standing by the driver's fender and look at the last "N" and then direct your eye down/back towards you it's right there. That makes more sence. I'll take another look at it this weekend. thanks. Pbum5 10-26-2005, 11:33 PM I found it right where you said it was. On the side of the intake plenum down from the last “N” In case anyone wants to change their own, you will need the following. -New PCV Valve -19mm deep socket with a short extension and a U-joint. -Pliers to move the hose clamp. For more space you can move the bracket that sits over the PCV Valve by removing the 2- 10mm Bolts. It took me 5-minutes. OffroadX 10-27-2005, 10:29 AM Not threaded, but needed a socket? Pbum5 10-27-2005, 02:31 PM Not threaded, but needed a socket? It IS Threaded. OffroadX 10-27-2005, 03:57 PM Ah, I re-read your earlier post...
