1996 Olds "Ninety Eight" Any Chronic problems ?

Hello, I am new to this forum.
I am considering buying a 1996 model "Ninety Eight" to replace my failing 1985 Monte Carlo. Is there anyone that can tell me of any chronic problems with this model that I should be aware of? Would this be a very reliable car to buy? Will I be wasting my money fixing the same problems over and over? ( especially since it would be 10 years old) I chose it because I read that the 3.8 Liter Engine had a good reputation. I know nothing about fixing cars and would greatly appreciate any help that any of you can give me. Are there any other model GM cars from '96 to '00 that may be a more reliable buy?, or in this same large car class?

Thank you,
Clyde Howell
