I have a '96 explorer xlt that started to have a whirring noise come from the right front end. It increases with speed and is pretty loud. I am guessing that it is a front wheel bearing....anybody got any ideas?

Most likely a uneven treadpattern. Check the tire for a wave-like pattern on the edges.

I do have some uneven wear on that side so I will have the tires rotated and see if it goes away...thanks.

It will not completly vanish it will just move to the new location. Make sure the tire has good air presure, and if the tire you move to the front starts to wear uneven you may need to have the alignment checked. If the wear is a alternateing shallow-deep-shallow (cupping) you need to check your shocks! Good Luck!
