Can anybody tell me what I can expect to be wrong or going out on a 2002 se with 100k miles...do the automatic transmissions hold up pretty well with time?
Thanks,
Eric

If you haven't had the transmission fluid drain/filled a couple of times by now, the fluid is getting rather long in the tooth for sure. I would suggest a full transmission fluid exchange (flush) at 100K regardless.
Exhaust manifolds are known to crack, usually before 100K though. Rear main seal leaks are known to happen now and then. Belts, hoses, spark plugs, and timing belt are all likely needing replacement, and a coolant flush would be wise.
Oh, diff and transfer case fluids as well as wheel bearing grease should be replaced as well.

My 2000 xterra has a little over 110k miles. I have not been the best at maintaining it. The worst thing that has happened is it busted a heater hose. Be carefull getting it off, or you will break part of the heater core. Cut it off, don't even try to pull it off, as the top hose is clamped onto plastic that is brittle from all the hot water going through it.
