My KIA has 44,000 miles and I checked the Air Bag fuse and it was not blown. I have an extended warranty that does not cover Air Bags. I wanted to see if there is anything that I can check before taking it to the dealership. Please help!!!!
Thank you,

My 2000 Kia Sephia also had the Air Bag light on. It wasn't able to pass smog. I took it to a Kia dealer and it took 2 days and over $1,500 to fix. In the end they said it was a burr on a stamped piece of metal that a wire rubbed against and ground out the wire. It was less than a dollar fix with some heat shrink. When I asked where the burr was or if the service man could explain where this burr was so that I could de-burr it, he gave me the run around. The problem has happened again and I'm still trying to find where the Kia Dealer salesman claimed to have fixed the problem. any help on where would be encouraging. I heard it's a problem that pleagues some if not most of all Kia Sephia cars. I'm not sure if the Air Bags will work if the Air Bag Light is on. Can someone clarify?

If the airbag light is on, they will not work. As for a chafed wire, I could see that happening. They should make knives with the same machine that stamps the metal for dashes. I have no clue where the wire would be but if they just fixed it I would go back and raise hell about it.
