what is a good winter/ice tire. i know nothing does great on ice, but how bad do mud tires do on ice. right now i have dueler a/t revos, and they seem to do well, but it is getting time to replace them.

Mud tires suck on ice. A heavily-siped all-terrain like the Revo is about the best thing short of a dedicated winter tire like the Bridgestone Winter Dueler / Blizzak.

Hope you are still checking your thread. I have not been on here in a while. Sorry.

I had a set of Bridgestone Winter Duelers on my Jeep GC. They were the best winter tire I have ever had. Best steering and stopping of any tire out there on the real slick hard pack ice and snow. Any 4wd can get going, but when it comes time to stop and or make a corner that is where these things paid off.

Downside. Put them on at the first threat of snow and off very shortly after the season. I live in Upstate NY, so, late Nov-Mar. Tread life will suffer any more than that. The ice grip tread is only partial tread thickness then it acts as a standard snow, but still very good.

I am debating myself right now about spending the $$ on a set as aposed to a new set of ATs, I do like the confidence I got from the Bs Duelers. Being in control could save your or your familys life and that is the way I see it. One save and I would forget about the 700-800 Dollars.

Enough from me.
