Front Towing Holes

How much pressure do you think the front towing points could endure with the use of shackles and tow rope. I know that the tow hook is needed for more major towing, but I assume those tow holes are still sufficient for some things if Nissan put them on there. Would they still be safe to pull out a stuck vehicle (assuming it isnt extremely stuck)?
Also, how many lbs of pressure does it usually take to pull out your average SUV?
Thanks,
Pat

Are you talking about the holes that the tow hook bolts into or the holes they use for securing the vehicle during transport? The tie down holes for transport are not intended to be used for towing anything and are not strong enough to be used that way. Why not just use the tow hook or install one if you don't have one?
As far as towing pressure goes, it just depends on how stuck it is. Maybe as much as 10-12K lbs I suppose?

Using the tie-down points for light pulls isn't going to be a problem, but if you have the actual tow hook, that's what you want to use.

yea i dont have a tow hook... thats why i ask. I have the 2002 XE that didnt come with one. I bought a 76 cj-7 tow hook and it was SLIGHTLY off, so it didnt fit. So who knows. As long as they can be used for light towing, then ill be fine. Thanks for the info though

You can buy an aftermarket 3-hole hook and get the bolts that will fit in where your stock hook was supposed to be. Do a search for "3-hole" or something and it should come up in outside-mods. Or just buy one in a junkyard, or ask someone here if they have one. I shipped my other one to a guy last spring.
If you're towing on pavement then you should be fine, but I wouldn't push it beyond that.

Schludwiller, yeah thanks for that hook again. Towed out a jeep liberty with it, not more than a week after I got it... then I was towed out of mud by a ford F150 a few months back.
